The purpose of Camp Salvation is to evangelize, to educate, and to train in the art of Christian living. Every activity is designed for that purpose: to point young people into a relationship with Jesus Christ or to train those who already know Him how to live for Him. While you don’t have to be at camp to know Christ or grow in Him, there is something powerful about getting away into the mountains and away from all the distractions that usually come between us and our Creator.
WE BELIEVE:
[God]
A. In one God: The Triune Godhead that has always and will always exist in Three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in loving unity as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. With limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and make all things new for His own glory. (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1-3, Matthew 3:16-17, Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29, Ephesians 1:11, 1 Peter 1:20, Revelations 13:8, Revelations 4:11)
[The Bible]
B. The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and inerrant in the original manuscript and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God (Psalm 119:160, 2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16)
[Human Condition]
C. That God created man and woman, Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan, who has been given current dominion over unregenerate mankind. In union with Adam, human beings sin by both nature and choice and are alienated from God, under His wrath. (Genesis 3, Romans 5:12-21, John 3:36, James 3:9, Colossians 3:10, 1 Timothy 2:13-14)
[Jesus Christ]
D. The incarnate deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, death, bodily resurrection, present exaltation at God's right hand, and personal and imminent return. We believe that Jesus is coming back to deal with sin, rescue His beloved in order to spend eternity with His bride, the saints, in the new heaven and the new earth (the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Revelation 20-21, 1 John 4:2).
[The Work of Christ]
E. The atonement by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and the resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in heaven in God’s presence, and the resurrection of the unsaved unto everlasting punishment into the lake of fire. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Revelation 20:11-15, Matthew 26:28, Hebrews 9:14 & 22-28)
F. The Church, the Body, or the Bride of Christ, consisting only of those who are born again, for whom He now makes intercession in Heaven and for whom He shall come again. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
[Our Response/Christian Living]
G. Christ's commission is for the church to preach the gospel to all nations and disciple those who believe. (Matthew 28:18-20, Revelation 7:9)
H. The unity of the church. The fellowship of all those who have put their trust in Jesus alone to save them have unity through Jesus Christ. Those of a different faith are not family (Ephesians 4:4-6).
I. That we are called with a holy calling to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:12-13, 13:14; 1 Peter 1:14-16) and so to live in the Spirit that we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Ephesians 4:22-24), but the flesh being still in us to the end of our earthly pilgrimage (1 John 1:8) needs to be kept constantly in subjection to Christ (Colossians 3:1-10) through the operating of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:18; 5:22-23), or it will surely manifest its presence to the dishonor of His name (Galatians 5:17-21).
J. That all New Testament believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit at the point of Salvation (Ephesians 1:13). The Holy Spirit is given to comfort us, guide us in understanding Scriptures, convict us of sin, strengthen our witness, and gift us to serve others. We believe that the Spirit gives differing gifts to the believers for the edification of the body of Christ so that the whole body is equipped to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:7-16). Any gifts given by the Holy Spirit must be used in a way that is in harmony with Scripture.
K. We recognize the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that both these privileges are for believers only and that they are signs only, with no saving grace or merit in them. We believe that these ordinances are the responsibility of the local churches to conduct as they see fit. (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:9-10; Romans 6:3-4; I Corinthians 11:23-29).
